theoscarsproject: Titanic (1997) A seventeen-year-old aristocrat, expecting to be married to a rich claimant by her mother, falls in love with a kind but poor artist aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic. Oh, Titanic. As overwrought and teased as the film is now, it’s hard to deny its epic status. With a big budget and even bigger aspirations, the film mostly cashes its own cheque. The cinematography is lovely, the music a perfect accompaniment and Leo and Kate are well, the Leo and Kate you want and remember. Equal parts gorgeous and smart and in-love. It’s earned its classic epic status. 7/10.
